Dilip Trivedi is new CRPF Director-General

Dilip Trivedi, a 1978 batch IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre 16-Aug-2013 named the CRPF chief.

Mr. Trivedi  is currently serving as Special Director-General of the Border Security Force. He was conducting the inquiry into BSF's firing at Ramban in Jammu & Kashmir where four people were killed last month.

The post of the director-general of the CRPF, fell vacant after Mr. Pranay Sahay retired on July 31 and National Security Guard chief Arvind Ranjan was given the additional charge of the acting DG of the CRPF till the new chief was appointed.

The CRPF, is a 3,00,000- strong, is the nodal agency of the country's anti-Maoist operations.
Besides, the precarious security scenario in J&K, the CRPF would also have to focus on this sector where it is engaged in counter-insurgency operations, securing VIPs and complementing the state police in maintaining law and order.
