P. V. Sindhu bags bronze in 2013 BWF World Championships



P.V.Sindhu of India bagged Bronze medal women’s singles category at the BWF World Championships 2013. She was defeated by  Ratchanok Inthanon of Thailand in the semifinals in Guangzhou, China on 10 August 2013.

Sardar Singh to lead a young Indian Hokey team in Asia Cup

Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi lifts Denmark's Politiken Cup



Parimarjan Negi, the 20-year-old youngest international Grandmaster in chess,  won Politiken Cup 2013 after emerging with a fine score of nine out of a maximum possible 10 points, in Copenhagen, Denmark
The youngest international Grandmaster in chess won the same tournament in 2009, but this time around he finished a full point clear of the field, which included top seed Ivan Cheparinov, who has also been a second for former World champion Veselin Topalov. 

This was Negi’s second title in the last three outings. Last month in the US, Parimarjan won the DC International Open and tied for the top place in the World Open.

USA topped in the 15th FINA World Championship at Barcelona, Spain



Barcelona 2013 15th FINA World Championship that was held from 19 July – 4 August 2013 concluded on 4 August 2013 in Barcelona, Spain.  USA topped in the Championship with an overall haul of 33 medals that included 15 gold, 9 silver and 9 Bronze. It was followed by China and Russia at second and third spot respectively.

India claimed their first-ever medal Junior Women Hockey World Cup 2013

The Netherlands win the ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup, Argentina take Silver, India claim Bronze in Mönchengladbach,Germany

The reigning champions from the Netherlands defended their title at the ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup. The Dutch girls won the final against Argentina 4-2 in the shoot-out clinching the trophy for a record third time in women’s Junior World Cup history. India claimed their first-ever medal when winning the Bronze medal match against England.

Aditya Mehta lifts snooker gold medal in the World Games




 India's number one snooker player, Aditya Mehta clinched the gold medal in the World Games,  in Cali, Columbia. beating China's Liang Wenbo, 3-0, in the final Aditya Mehta hails from Mumbai. Aditya won a Silver and a Bronze medal in Men's Snooker Team and Men's Snooker Singles respectively, at the 2010 Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China.

P.V. Sindhu , the first Indian lady to reach India Open semifinals.

Sindhu became the first Indian lady to reach the semifinals of the $200,000 India Open badminton championship defeating Japan’s Yui Hashimoto.

Yui Hashimoto defeated India’s Saina Nehwal in Quarter Finals.

Djokovic won Monte Carlo Masters tournament.

Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal at the Monte Carlo Masters tennis tournament 6-2, 7-6(7-1) to win the trophy for the first time. He stopped Rafael Nadal’s winning streak of the last eight titles here.

Sebastian Vettel won Bahrain Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel extended his lead in this year’s title race when he claimed victory for Red Bull at the Bahrain Grand Prix

It was Vettel’s second win in four races this year and the 28th of his career. The German’s victory saw him move into sixth on the all-time list of Grand Prix wins, taking him past Jackie Stewart.
